The combined organic extracts were washed with water (30 mL) and then dried over solid anhydrous MgSO4. After filtration, the volatiles were removed, and the residue was was purified by flash chromatography using eluent from CH2Cl2 to CH2Cl2/MeOH (10:1) to give N-(2-(dimethylamino)-2-(thiophen-3- yl)ethyl) isoindoline-2-carboxamide (1) as an oil (170 mg, 61% yield). 300 MHz 1H-NMR (CDCl3, ppm): 7.31 (dd, J=5.0, 3.0 Hz, 1H) 7.28-7.23 (m, 4H) 7.10 (dd, J=3.0, 1.3 Hz, 1H) 7.01 (dd, J=5.0, 1.3 Hz, 1H) 5.01-4.89 (m, 1H) 4.73-4.56 (m, 4H) 3.74-3.63 (m, 2H) 3.61- 3.49 (m, 1H) 2.21 (s, 6H).
