Into a 25-mL round-bottom flask was placed tert-butyl 4-aminopiperidine-1- carboxylate (300 mg, 1.50 mmol, 1.00 equiv), dichloromethane (10 mL), 2-oxo-2,3- dihydro-1H-indole-5-carboxylic acid (319 mg, 1.80 mmol, 1.20 equiv), EDCI (344 mg, 1.79 mmol, 1.20 equiv), and HOBT (304 mg, 2.25 mmol, 1.50 equiv).
