General procedure: An oven-dried flask was charged with stir bar, oxindole (0.5 mmol), PIDA (0.25 mmol) in dry acetonitrile (4.0 mL). The resulting reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (3 10 mL). The combined organics were dried with Na2SO4 and dried under vacuum to afford crude solid. Then the crude product was purified by column chromatography on silica gel.
