Novel series of dihydroquinolindihydro-spiro[indoline-3,6 ‘-[1,3]thiazine]-5 ‘-carbonitrile derivatives

A series of new spiro[indoline-3,6’-[1,3]thiazines] were synthesized in modest yields by refluxing of substituted (1,2-dihydroquinolin-3-yl)-methylene)hydrazinecarbothioamides with 2-(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)malononitrile in pyridine as a solvent. The structure assignment of all obtained products has been confirmed by H-1, C-13 NMR, 2D-NMR, N-15 NMR spectroscopy in addition to elemental analyses. To a mixture of thiazolium fluoroborate (4a-4h, 9a-9f) (0.003 mol) and indolin-2-one (11a-11f) (0.003 mol) in acetonitrile (15 ml) was added triethylamine (0.91 g, 0.009 mol) dropwise at 25 C, and the mixture was stirred for 4 h at the same temperature. The orange precipitate was collected and washed with ethyl acetate (8 ml). The crude product thus obtained was recrystallized from methanol or acetone to give compound (5a-5s, 10a-10s).
